Stephan has just returned from a wonderful trip with some amazing sightings in Botswana. This is what he had to share in his own words. The Botswana Wild Side BT14 is one of the best trips that I enjoy so much because you get closer to the nature with 7 days of wild camping, by far the best way to experience the Botswana national parks and the fauna and flora up close and personal.
It all started on the first day of the tour, when you hear the clients interacting so well with each other then it gives you the zeal to deliver your best because it is a good sign at times that it is an easy going group. Our first good sighting in Khama Rhino was a Leopard up in the tree which was amazing because it was also my first time spotting Leopard at Khama after almost four years of visiting the park. The long walk in the Okavango Delta added a spice to the first few days of the tour by seeing two male lions on foot.
Our first day in Moremi was also good with an old male lion which was just lying down in the tall grass which was spotted by one of the clients, she was so happy because it was her first African safari and we had to make sure that she got enough pictures of it. Second day on the morning game drive was also great with a leopard hunting a slender mongoose right next to the vehicle. When we got back to the camp we all had a big brunch of ostrich burgers which was a good treat for the clients because most of them it was the first time tasting it. Early hours of the morning we had two male lions roaring from a distance in the direction to our camp as we were breaking down the camp. They finally got closer and as we knew that they were going to pass through the camp we had to gather everyone by the fire and some clients took a bit of time to respond to our instruction but later realised that we meant it and they came to the rest and a few minute later the lions passed through and everyone just frozen they couldn’t believe that this was happening. They never bothered us and just walked past slowly as they were heading to one of the water holes close by. It was a great sighting, the sad part was no one took any pictures of these lions passing through camp but it will stick in our heads for ever.
It was a good tour with lots of good sightings. In the Savuti we saw lots of animals very close to us and everyone was so happy every day.
It was always a good one for us seeing something different and the boat cruise in Chobe was awesome too it is always nice to be on the right place at the right time when Elephants are crossing the river. This was by far one of my best camping tours and the easy going group made it even easier for us.
