Greg, shares this fun and unusual little surprise on his recent Namibia Botswana Desert & Delta NB21 tour.
During my recent “Namibia and Botswana Southern Circle” tour, we stayed on our 5th night at Kaisosi Lodge which is situated about 10km’s away from the town of Rundu in Northern Namibia. At the lodge there are two resident peacocks that wonder around the campsite, frequently coming to the lunch table to find any scraps that may have dropped off the table. This morning we were departing for Etosha, we were greeted after breakfast by the most amazing site….the peacock in full display…but it wasn’t for any Peahen as there are none living at this lodge. It seems he was giving a goodbye display to our clients as they were walking to the truck. Cameras were obviously immediately out and I also decided to bring out my tourist side and grab my camera to take a few shots of this magnificent bird. These birds only able to fly short distances and they are also not found in the wild, they were introduced from India.
Sometimes it is the small moments on tour that bring a huge amoutn of delight. A peacock in full display is a truly beautiful!
